Manado
North Sulawesi is known as The Land of Smiling People and lies in the very epicentre of the world’s marine biodiversity in the Indo-Pacific Ocean. It offers more than 100 different dive sites, all rich with tropical marine life, with diving all year round.
There are two dive areas to choose from. The first area is the clear waters of the Bunaken National Marine Park which was voted the global winner of British Airways Tourism for Tomorrow Award in 2003. The amazing walls of the park teams with thousands of different fish species, with huge sponges and beautiful hard corals, and countless number of fascinating critters.
The second area on the other side of the mainland is Lembeh Strait, and it is known as the world’s best ‘muck diving’. These waters are full of extraordinary marine critters, many of which are the masters of camouflage.

{tab=DIVE SITES}
La Rascasse House Reef – Recently voted one of the top 100 dive sites in the world. This site offers muck diving at its best – frogfish, ambon scorpionfish, mimic octopus, hairy octopus and the flamboyant cuttlefish, all regulars here.
Fukui Point – This spot is slightly different to the typical Bunaken dive site. Instead of a vertical wall it has more of a slope with a few short, steep drops. This site is a cleaning station, so expect to see some larger fish coming in for a service. Mackerel, batfish and two resident napoleon wrasse are seen here, redtooth triggerfish shoal here when the currents are running.
Lekuan I, II & III – The wall at Lekuan has three crests called I, II and III. Each dive site is very similar in topography with a vertical wall and vast array of marine life. Suitable for all levels of scuba diver, plenty of turtles can be found here resting on rock coral ledges. Bumphead parrotfish and napoleon wrasse can be seen in large numbers and smaller fish such as anthias and fairy basslets swarm in the shallows.
Bunaken Timur – Meaning East Bunaken this dive site is actually one long reef along the east coast of the island and several dives are required to see it all. The reef wall has a number of ledges and crevices that are teeming with life. Keep a look out for big visitors such as sharks, rays and turtles.
